Flower dress

This dress was created as part of a project in which the assignment was to design an oversized dress using only one color and one fabric. I chose a design featuring original rose-shaped sleeves, which were given volume through the use of special threading techniques. For this project, I worked with recycled fabric that had previously been used as interior upholstery. The floral dress is made from taffeta with a unique iridescent (changeant) color, created by weaving multiple colored threads into the fabric. This material is easy to manipulate and ideal for creating volume, while remaining lightweight. For this reason, taffeta was the perfect choice for a dress that needed to appear bold and voluminous, yet remain light and airy. Pictures made by Emma & Marthe Luyten.
